Transmission Engineer III
Quanta Technology LLC dba Danovo Energy Solutions seeks Transmission Engineer III (Raleigh, NC) Duties: Review one-line diagrams, equipment connections and ratings for utility-scale Solar and Battery Substations. Create power system models using ETAP, SKM, PSSE, PSLF and PSCAD for performing steady state and dynamic power system studies for renewable interconnection projects. Perform load flow, short circuit, arc flash, harmonic analysis, and protection coordination studies for Substations as per industry standards and guidelines. Perform dynamic model quality tests for IBR projects in PSSE, PSLF and PSCAD per utility guidelines and requirements. Perform islanding studies on steam turbines and various types of wind turbine generators, providing observations on current protection schemes and offering recommendations. Specialize in bus flow analysis, meticulously evaluating the flow of electrical power through the system for optimal performance. Conduct comprehensive N-1, N-1-0, N-1-1, and N-1-1-0 contingency analyses, assessing the system’s resilience to single and multiple line failures. Prepare technical reports to document study results, key observations, and recommendations. Provide customers support on interconnection applications for new projects per utility requirements. Perform research and provide recommendations to customers on complex power system related issues/problems. Create automation scripts where possible and upgrade existing scripts to improve efficiency. Manage budget, schedule, and quality of deliverables to ensure successful completion of projects. Share and coordinate information with other team members. Focus on the needs of internal clients (project team leadership) while attempting to gain an understanding of the external client’s main interests and drivers. Identify technical, practical, and economical project risks.
Required: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electric Power Systems Engineering or related.
Must have experience with:
- Steady State, Short Circuit and Harmonic Analysis.
- Arc Flash Hazard Study, Protection Coordination study and Dynamic Model Quality Testing.
- At least 2 or more of the following programming languages: Python, C, MATLAB, Fortran, SQL.
- Power-flow study software ETAP, PSSE, SKM, ASPEN.
- EMT software PSCAD.
Experience gained during graduate coursework, projects, and/or internships will be accepted.
Weekend work required. Hybrid role model position, working 3 days in office and 2 days from within normal commuting distance of the office location.
