POSITION OVERVIEW

Danovo Energy Solutions seeks a Regulatory Advisor to lead on novel, high-impact consulting projects for utilities, developers, customers, and other energy-sector clients. The Regulatory Advisor will provide expert regulatory advisory services to electric utility clients across a broad range of matters, applying structured analytical frameworks to complex regulatory and compliance challenges and collaborating cross-functionally to deliver integrated, client-focused solutions.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide expert regulatory advisory services to electric utility clients across a broad range of matters including resource planning, ratemaking, and risk management.
  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis of state and federal regulatory proceedings, requirements, and trends.
  • Apply structured analytical frameworks to complex regulatory and compliance challenges.
  • Develop high-quality work products — including written analyses, presentations, and client deliverables — with limited supervision.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with regulatory experts, engineers, financial analysts, planners, and business development professionals to ensure integrated, client-focused solutions.
  • Manage and execute multiple concurrent project workstreams, coordinating with project managers and other team members to deliver on scope, schedule, and quality.
  • Engage directly with clients to understand needs, communicate project requirements, and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Contribute to business development.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Travel

Travel is expected approximately once a month to client locations and industry meetings.

 

Education & Experience

  • Eight years of experience in electric utility regulation or a closely related field; preference for candidates with experience at a regulated utility.
  • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Economics, Finance, Business, Engineering, or a related field, or a J.D. Relevant experience may substitute for the advanced degree requirement.
  • A strong utility industry background is essential in all cases.

 

Systems & Skills

  • Experience with electric utility regulation, including resource planning, ratemaking, and/or risk management at the state or federal level.
  • Experience with state public utility commissions and/or FERC.
  • Experience developing and presenting complex regulatory analyses, reports, or testimony in a professional setting.
  • Experience applying analytical/quantitative frameworks to qualitative data sets.
  • Experience producing polished written and visual work products (including PowerPoint presentations) suitable for client or stakeholder delivery with limited revision.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

Education & Experience

  • Experience with NERC, WECC, or organized wholesale electricity markets.
  • California regulatory experience.
  • Familiarity with multiple regional regulatory frameworks.
  • Project management experience sufficient to collaborate effectively with dedicated project managers.
  • Candidates with backgrounds as former utility employees, independent power producer staff, regulatory attorneys, management consultants, or employees of regulatory agencies are strongly encouraged to apply.

 

Location

This is a remote position. Danovo Energy Solutions has offices in Raleigh, North Carolina; Markham, Ontario; Lombard, Illinois; and San Clemente, California. We offer hybrid employment that supports a blend of in-office and/or remote work.
