Quanta Technology LLC dba Danovo Energy Solutions seeks Principal Engineering Advisor (Raleigh, NC). Duties: Lead and design substation automation systems including processor-based hardware and software control system. Perform analysis and design of automation and SCADA systems, including conceptual design, communication systems and detailed design. Produce detailed calculations, drawings, technical specifications, procurement documents, design reports and installation packages, proposal evaluations, technical reports, detailed analyses, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes in SCADA systems. Lead Automation and SCADA system technical review designs, submissions, and responses to RFI’s. Lead substation and transmission projects with a focus on electrical protection and control activities. Create engineering drawings for upgrades, replacements and new installations in medium and high voltage substations and generating facilities. Design and specify control panels and associated equipment. Design and develop substation communication network architecture. Support Station Controllers, RTUs, HMIs, PMUs and Battery Monitoring Systems and PLCs. Prepare protection equipment specifications, panel layout drawings, detailed design drawings, bills of materials, and electronic setting and logic files for various control and communication applications. Create protection and control recommendation for new and existing substation projects. Application of principles and techniques of electric power systems engineering, review of technical documents and manuals, modeling simulation and analysis of protection. Lead proposal efforts.

 

Required:  Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or related field plus 7 years of experience in the job offered, as SCADA Engineer or related position within the electrical or power utilities industry.

 

Must have 6 years of experience with design, execution and completion of Automation and SCADA projects for substations.

Must have experience with:

  • Modeling and analysis tool SCADA.
  • Project management for professional consulting or electrical utility environment.
  • Communication protocols used in SCADA systems including DNP3, Modbus, and IEC61850.
  • Design of substation automation systems including processor-based hardware and software control systems.
  • Design, programming, acceptance testing and commissioning of automation systems for substation gateways such as SG-4250s or similar, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
