Engineer – Power Systems Applications and Processes

POSITION OVERVIEW
The position of Power Systems Engineer is an important technical position within Danovo Energy Solutions and is reserved for people with technical skills and the ability to support projects. A Power Systems Engineer is encouraged to start building a strong industry presence and aim to become a recognized expert in their area in the future.
Responsible for leading a team of engineers and providing tactical advice to the clients at the manager or engineer level, these individuals must be able to perform tasks related to technical or economic calculations related to their field, with no supervision.
The primary focus of this position will be to lead and implement engineering solutions for the power systems industry to meet the emerging technical and regulatory challenges of the 21st century. These solutions cover the use of innovative automation and integration techniques to improve power system utility processes across all technical departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and/or support the development and implementation of solutions required by the power systems industry.
- Use innovative problem-solving and critical thinking approaches to troubleshoot challenging engineering problems.
- Provide technical expertise in the areas of power systems processes, data analysis, asset management, compliance, and protection and control.
- Specify and scope engineering and automation solutions to meet specific customer requirements.
- Contribute to business development efforts, including the preparation of proposals and marketing materials, to support the overall vision and goals of the Digital Transformation team.
- Prepare technical and business documentation, including project reports, user guides, process reports, and project proposals.
- Serve as a customer liaison, including in-person and remote meetings for technical and project discussions.
- Support projects across required engineering and business functions.
- Further develop project management skills.
- Begin developing contacts to generate future projects.
- Present individual and overall Danovo Energy Solutions competencies and offerings to customers.
- Begin working toward being perceived as an expert in your area of expertise.
- Be a team player, promoting overall Danovo Energy Solutions.
- Follow Danovo Energy Solutions processes, strategic directions, and vision.
- Keep abreast of related technical developments in the field.
Required QUALIFICATIONS
Travel
The ideal candidate is willing and able to travel to client locations and industry meetings, which can be up to 50% depending on the assignment.
Education & Experience
- Technical expertise in at least one area of the utility industry as demonstrated by previous project experience or peer-reviewed publications, involvement in technical societies, and/or patents.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or another relevant technical field.
- Minimum 4 years of work experience within the power system and utilities industry.

- Demonstrated in-depth expertise and application of power system concepts in successfully completed projects in the areas of: data analysis, process optimization and development, applications integration and automation, protection and control, and asset management.
- Knowledge of NERC compliance standards, including requirements, scope, evaluation, and reporting aspects.
- Cascade, SAP, Maximo, CAPE, ASPEN OneLiner, CYME, SYNERGI, and/or PowerBase.
- Well-developed analytical and mathematical skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good communication and comprehensive technical writing skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) or P. Eng license.
- Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant technical field.
- PMP certification.
- Active in power society technical working groups.
Systems & Skills
- Software development abilities, including applications, practices, full life cycle support, or implementation of code.
- Business development, including preparation of project proposals, scopes, requests for information, and customer liaison.
- Project management, including planning, tracking, budgetary, work assignment, and customer liaison aspects.
Location
Danovo Energy Solutions has offices in Raleigh, North Carolina; Markham, Ontario; Lombard, Illinois; and San Clemente, California. We offer hybrid employment that supports a blend of in-office and/or remote work.
